Harvard-Chile Data Science School 2017

Harvard-Chile Data Science School 2017

The Institute for Applied Computational Science (IACS) of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) at Harvard University, the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM) of the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (FCFM) at the University of Chile, the Millennium Institute for Astrophysics (MAS) and the Computer Science Department of the Catholic University of Chile in collaboration with AURA to provide a team-based interdisciplinary hands-on learning experience focused on large astronomical datasets in the Harvard-Chile Data Science School. After two versions in 2014 and 2015 where students and researchers spent one month working together in data science projects, the school evolved into a one year continuous experience where students work hand in hand with researchers towards specific goals in frontier astronomical research in 2016. Now teams meet twice per year to work together for a full month: January in Chile and July in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

In January of 2017 the school will be held in Chile in Universidad Austral (Valdivia) between Jan 3-8, in Universidad de Chile (Santiago) between Jan 9-15 and in Universidad Católica de Chile (Santiago) between Jan 16-20.

Date: Jan 03, 2017
Date of closure: Jan 20, 2017
Venue: CMM, Beauchef 851, piso 7, Santiago
