Harvard-Chile Data Science School 2018

Harvard-Chile Data Science School 2018

The Institute for Applied Computational Science (IACS) of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) at Harvard University, the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM) of the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (FCFM) at the University of Chile, the Millennium Institute for Astrophysics (MAS) and the Computer Science Department of the Catholic University of Chile in collaboration with AURA join together to provide a team-based interdisciplinary hands-on learning experience focused on large astronomical datasets in the Harvard-Chile Data Science School. After two versions in 2014 and 2015 where students and researchers spent one month working together in data science projects, the school evolved into a one year continuous experience where students work hand in hand with researchers towards specific goals in frontier astronomical research in 2016 and 2017. Now teams meet twice per year to work together for several weeks: during January in Chile and during July in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

In January 2018 the school will be held in Universidad de Concepción (Concepción, Chile) between Jan 6th and 11th, in Universidad de Chile (Santiago, Chile) between Jan 12th and 16th, and in Universidad Católica de Chile (Santiago, Chile) between Jan 17th and 19th.

Date: Jan 06, 2018
Date of closure: Jan 19, 2018
Venue: CMM, Beauchef 851, piso 7, Santiago
