CMM presents its developments in Mining at Expomin 2018

Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM) Mining Strategic Area joined in Expomin 2018. The main companies and providers at mining sector were part of this convention. The new version of the event had a symbolic value because the reactivation of this economic sector is expected for the next years.

During the fair, Research and Development Vice Presidency of Universidad de Chile rise a stand where invited to CMM and other three centers of excellence: Center for Biotechnology and BioEngineering (Cebib), Advanced Mining Tecnology Center (AMTC) and Complex System of Engineering Institute (ISCI).

CMM presented some developments in mining such as Geosis software for simulation and real time visualization of seismic activity and stress in mines, the work on seismic tomography for geomechanical risk assessment, remote sensor data modeling and analysis, bacterial leaching, and planning, logistics and risk analysis for real time mining.

“It is an opportunity where CMM accomplish its aimes of creating links with the industry, offering solutions and knowing the trend defining the market,” said CMM researcher Joaquín Fontbona.

Expomin ended on April 27th at Espacio Riesco and the biggest companies in mining were part of it: Codelco, BHP, Antofagasta Minerals, and Lundin Mining Corporation; providers such as Abastible, Albin Trotter, Agunsa, Atlas Copco, Finning CAT, Honda, Nissan, Distribuidora Cummins, Gasco, Copec, Gerdau Aza, ABB y Acciona; as well as countries such as Spain, France, Canada, Germany, Italy, United States, Czech Republic, China, Turkey, Brazil, Mexico and United Arab Emirates.
