Pan-American Advanced Studies Institute at the CMM

The Pan-American Advanced Studies Institute (PASI) on Partial Differential Equations, Inverse Problems and Non-Linear Analysis will be held, January 6-18, 2003, at the Centro de Modelamiento Matemático (CMM), Facultad de Ciencias Físicas y Matemáticas, Universidad de Chile.
The interaction between Partial Differential Equations (PDE), Inverse Problems (IP), and Non-Linear Analysis (NLA) has produced remarkable developments in the last couple of decades or so.
One of the main objectives of the PASI on PDE, IP and NLA is to bring many of these developments to advanced graduate students, postdocs and other scientists in the Americas interested in these fields and their applications. Another important objective of the PASI is to foster international cooperation throughout the Americas by bringing different areas of expertise in PDE, IP and NLA in one event.
The PASI will consist of a series of intensive mini-courses during the first week followed the second week by a WORKSHOP focused on latest developments. During the workshop there will be invited plenary lectures of 45 minutes, half hour talks, and short communications.
The PASI is sponsored by the US National Science Foundation, US Department of Energy (DOE), Pacific Institute of Mathematical Sciences (PIMS), Conicyt, CMM, DIM. We are applying for additional economic support from others sources.

We ask all the scientists interested in participating in the PASI to register here as soon as possible.

Participants interested in giving a contributed talk should send an abstract to Secretary of the PASI, pasi2003@dim.uchile.cl. The deadline is NOVEMBER 15, 2002. Advanced graduate students, postdocs and scientists with a recent PhD degree are strongly encouraged to apply for financial support. Participants applying for financial support please send an email by OCTOBER 15, 2002 containing the following information:
  • Current Curriculum Vita, including a publication list;
  • Statement as to the relevance of the program to their research;
  • One letter of recommendation,
to:
  • Raul Manasevich (pasi2003@dim.uchile.cl), for all participants excluding the US or Canada.
  • Gunther Uhlmann (gunther@math.washington.edu) for US participants.
  • Nassif Ghoussoub (director@pims.math.ca) for canadian participants or see the web page:
