SUMMARY:Santiago Dynamical Systems Seminar  “Towards rigorous bounds on Lyapunov exponents for Anosov diffeomorphisms”
DESCRIPTION:Abstract: Lyapunov exponents express the exponential growth rate of distances in the system and provide a quantitative value associated with the complexity of the system, being related as well to the entropy.\nThe rigorous computation of Lyapunov exponents for smooth dynamical systems involves the computation of lower and upper bounds for their values. Applying techniques from the seminal work of Baladi and Tsujii on anisotropic Banach spaces for uniformly hyperbolic dynamics, we can prove upper and lower bounds for Lyapunov exponents in terms of the spectral radii of transfer operators.\nWe illustrate the implementation of a converging numerical scheme to compute these spectral radii, and discuss how we can make most of the steps of this computation rigorous.\nThis presentation is based on ongoing work joint with Bastián Núñez-Boettiger, Ekaterina Shchetka, and Truong Vu.\nSpeaker: Marisa Cantarino (Universidad de Chile)\n
