During the last days of May, the “19th Workshop on Numerical Methods for Problems with Layer Phenomena” was held, an event that brought together representatives from various countries such as Cyprus, the United Kingdom and Australia, among others, and was aimed at the international mathematical and scientific community in general, with particular interests in the development and applications of numerical methods for problems of the so-called “layer phenomena”, with applications in fluid dynamics problems.
In this congress, organized by the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Univerzita Karlova of the Czech capital, the Director of the Mathematical Engineering Research Center of the University of Concepción (CI²MA UdeC) and associate researcher of the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM) of the University of Chile, Dr. Rodolfo Araya Durán, presented the talk ‘A multiscale mixed hybrid method for advection’.
In it, the researcher explained, “I was able to present a version of a work we are carrying out with researchers from Chile, Brazil and France, which was well received by the specialists present”.
“On the other hand”, the specialist emphasized, “this type of congress, where everyone listens to everyone else, is the most interesting since one has the opportunity to learn about new ideas that can be applied in one’s own research”.
Dr. Araya explained that “after participating in the BAIL 2022 congress in Buenos Aires, where I coincided with the organizer of the congress in Prague, I was invited to present my latest results at this new event, which is one of the results obtained by participating in person in a scientific meeting”.
Regarding the main results of the meeting, the CMM researcher also explained that “thanks to my participation in this congress, I have been invited to research stays in Germany, Scotland, Czech Republic and Ireland, which I hope will materialize in the short term”.
