The Center for Mathematical Modeling has defined six strategic areas where it focuses its research: CMM Climate & Biodiversity, CMM Data Science, CMM Digital Health, CMM Digital Mining, CMM Education and CMM Resource Management. These areas aggregate the applied research developed in different CMM laboratories and initiatives. Moreover, for providing to industrial, educational and public sectors in Chile of a modern computing infrastructure, the Center leads the National Laboratory for High Performance Computing (NLHPC) project. This national lab is a key element to the development of several applied research projects at CMM and other centers along the country. Only a few initiatives are not included in these new clusters, an important one concerns the interaction with physicists: the CMM Laboratory on Localized Patterns.
