CMM Researcher Presents on Mathematical Models in Digital Health at CRS Cordillera Oriente Scientific Meeting

The Gloria Henríquez Díaz, a researcher at the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM) of the University of Chile, participated as an invited speaker at the III Research and Innovation in Health Meeting organized by the Cordillera Oriente Health Reference Center (CRS). During the event, she presented the potential of mathematical modeling and digital health to improve processes and patient care within the public health system.

Dr. Henríquez Díaz, a researcher in the Digital Health research area at the CMM of the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Chile, spoke on October 22 as the closing keynote lecturer of the meeting. Her presentation, titled “Application of Mathematical Models in Digital Health,” showcased advances and examples of mathematical and analytical tools applied to the development of innovative solutions that contribute to optimizing processes and improving healthcare delivery.

The event brought together distinguished professionals and institutions to present innovative research in public health aimed at improving processes, systems, and healthcare services, fostering knowledge exchange between the scientific and clinical communities.

During her presentation, Dr. Henríquez emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration across science, technology, and health, stating: “At CMM, we seek to contribute to the development of the country by integrating mathematical knowledge into strategic areas such as health. Mathematics allows us to provide solutions to problems in other disciplines, contributing to better management and to more efficient and personalized healthcare.”

She added: “In Chile, an ecosystem of people and institutions working at the intersection of technology and health has emerged and is continuously growing, and those of us at CMM are actively involved in it”. Finally, she highlighted that these spaces represent “an opportunity to build bridges between academia and clinical teams, demonstrating how mathematical modeling can become a key tool to strengthen digital health in Chile.”

The participation of CMM in this type of meeting reinforces its commitment to interdisciplinary research and the generation of applied knowledge for social well-being—fundamental pillars of the Center’s contribution to the country’s scientific and technological development.
