CMM researchers organized 10th edition of the French-Chilean Optimization Conference in Rouen

The event was inaugurated in a ceremony at the Chilean embassy in France.

 

Last Monday through Friday, the 10émes Journées Franco-Chiliennes pour l’Optimisation, JFCO, took place in the city of Rouen, France. This meeting is part of a solid tradition of collaboration that dates back 30 years between French and Chilean research teams working in the area of optimization.

The event seeks to share theoretical and methodological advances in the area, which in this version included optimal control, stability, algorithms for data science, mean field games, and applications to relevant fields such as energy, economics and voting systems.

Eight academics from various Chilean universities who are also researchers from the Center for Mathematical Modeling, CMM, participated in this event: Luis Briceño (UTFSM), José Correa (U. of Chile), Rafael Correa (U. of Chile), Fabián Flores-Bazán (UdeC), Alejandro Jofré (U. of Chile), and Pedro Pérez-Azullos (U. of Chile), and Pedro Pérez-Azullos (U. of Chile). de Chile), and Pedro Pérez-Aros (U. de Chile); in addition to CMM director Héctor Ramírez (U. de Chile), and Emilio Vilches (U. de O’Higgins), who were part of the scientific committee and organizers of the meeting, together with postgraduate students who are doing research stays in France.

 

Thus, this version of the meeting was articulated with the activities to commemorate the CMM’s 25th anniversary. In this context, the Conference was inaugurated with an official ceremony offered at the Chilean Embassy in France, in which Héctor Ramírez highlighted “the relevance that collaboration and friendship with French colleagues has had for the development of optimization in Chile”.

Emilio Vilches, meanwhile, said that “this scientific event is a clear example of the ongoing collaboration with France, and that it positions CMM as a center of international influence in Optimization, consolidating its role as an articulator of academic networks and trainer of new generations of researchers in a global context”.
