My research focuses on continuous optimization, from theoretical aspects to its applications in diverse fields of engineering and sciences., More specifically, regarding fundamental research, I mainly study stability properties of solutions sets of optimization problems or parametrized generalized equations with conic constraints (e.g., involving semidefinite matrices and second-order cones). Regarding applied research, I also work on the applications of optimal control, optimization and IA techniques in health management related problems.
Biografía
Héctor Ramírez is full professor in the Department of Mathematical Engineering at Universidad de Chile and the Director of the Center for Mathematical Modeling. He obtained his degree in Mathematical Engineering from Universidad de Chile in 2002 and his PhD in Applied Mathematics from École Polytechnique (France) in 2005. He has delivered keynote talks at numerous institutions and conferences and has served on the program committees of several international conferences dedicated to optimization, digital health, and other related fields. His research has been recognized with several awards, including the Charles Broyden Prize in 2010. Since 2017, he has been the Chief Editor of the Continuous Optimization area of the journal Operations Research Letters and serves as associate editor in many optimization and engineering journals. Additionally, he regularly serves on diverse Chilean advisory councils and has led numerous R&D projects with industry and the public sector.
