Applied Research

Center for Mathematical Modeling has defined four strategic areas where focuses its research: CMM Mining, CMM Resource Management, CMM Bio and CMM Education. These areas aggregate the applied research developed in different CMM laboratories and initiatives. In addition, the Center is designing a new transversal strategic area that integrates all the activities concerning the mathematical analysis of big volumes or sophisticated data (CMM Data). Moreover, for providing to industrial, educational and public sectors in Chile of a modern computing infrastructure, the Center leads the National Laboratory for High Performance Computing (NLHPC) project. This national lab is a key element to the development of several applied research projects at CMM and other centers along the country. Only a few initiatives are not included in these new clusters, an important one concerns the interaction with physicists: the CMM Laboratory on Localized Patterns.
