Be-CoDiS: A mathematical model to predict the risk of human diseases spread between countries. Validation and application to the 2014-15 Ebola Virus Disease epidemic
RESUMEN: Ebola virus disease is a lethal human and primate disease that currently requires a particular attention from the international health authorities due to important outbreaks in some Western African countries and isolated cases in the United Kingdom, the USA and Spain. Regarding the emergency of this situation, there is a need of development of decision tools, such as mathematical models, to assist the authorities to focus their efforts in important factors to eradicate Ebola. In this work, we propose a novel deterministic...
Parametric rigidity of real families of conformal diffeomorphisms tangent to x -> -x
Abstract: We prove that one-parameter families of real germs of conformal diffeomorphisms tangent to the involution x -> -x are rigid in the parameter. We study the connection between the dynamics in the Poincar\’e and Siegel domains. Although repeatedly employed in the literature, the dynamics in the Siegel domain does not explain the intrinsic real properties of these germs. Rather, these properties are fully exploited in the Poincaré domain, where the fixed points are linearizable. However, a detailed study of the dynamics in the...
Equivalence between the p-cyclic quasimonotonicity and the p-cyclic monotonicity for affine maps.
Resumen: It is well known that, for general multivalued operators, monotonicity implies quasimonotonicity. This is also true if we deal with cyclic monotone/quasimonotone or even p-cyclic monotone/quasimonotone operators. In this work, we prove, in general Banach spaces, that an affine p-cyclic quasimonotone operator is in fact p-cyclic monotone.
Optimal transport, concentration of measure and functional inequalities.
Abstract: This talk is devoted to Talagrand’s transport-entropy inequalities and its deep connections to the concentration of measure phenomenon, large deviation theory and logarithmic Sobolev inequalities. After an introductive part on the field, I will present recent results obtained with P-M Samson and C. Roberto characterizing different functional inequalities in terms of concentration of measure properties. If time enables, I will also present some works in progress about transport inequalities in a discrete...

FROM STUDENT TO TEACHER: A NARRATIVE STUDY OF WOMEN LEARNING TO TEACH MATHEMATICS
ABSTRACT My study explored the experiences of mathematics anxieties in women elementary preservice teachers while learning mathematics as K-12 students and while learning to teach mathematics. Previous studies conducted in mathematics teacher education have emphasized the importance of preservice teachers’ mathematical knowledge for teaching, as a confident and competent mathematics teacher is a vital necessity in the classroom (Beilock, Gunderson, Ramirez, & Levine, 2010; Gavin & Reis, 2003; Huebner, 2009). As evidence of...
Survey on blow up for the critical generalized Korteweg-de Vries equation
Abstract: We will review recent results with Frank Merle and Pierre Raphael (and also partly with Kenji Nakanishi) on blow up for critical generalized Korteweg-de Vries equation, and more generally on the classification of solutions close to the solitons.
